Watching a map at the Tuscany coast, just between Tuscany and Corsica you'll find the islands of the Tuscany archipelago, formed by the islands of Elba, Giglio, Capraia, Montecristo, Pianosa, Giannutri and Gorgona. All the marine area of the Tuscany Islands is part of the conservation area of the National park of the Tuscany Archipelago, in turn part of the Cetacean Sanctuary.

Here there are a lot of amazing landscapes, especially if seen by the boat, little isles like Capraia and Giglio with only few hundereds inhabitants or desert isles like Gorgona, Montecristo and Giannutri or the Elba island known all over the world not only for its beautiful coast but because for the few years that was the "prison" of Napolen, during his first exile.



The best way to visit this sea area is sailing between an island to another, making a short tours of 3/4 days or making a longer tour to visit a wider area. During the navigation is possible to meet with whales or dolphins and this create surely a plus to the Tuscany holiday.

On the Tuscany coast there are a lof of charter company where is possible to rent a sailing boat with or without the skipper, depending on personal skills.

The harbours more strategical for a holiday on the Tuscany islands, depend on the itineraries more often the main are: San Vincenzo for the northern islands, Punta Ala and Scarlino for the Elba Island, Porto Santo Stefano for the southern islands.

Going from the major airports to the harbours here is not a problem, there is a good choiche between driven car rental services that offer car or minivan transfer for a reasonable price.
